OUR STORY

Building on Legacy

For more than 40 years, PCI has been an industrial pillar in Northeast Kansas. Whether it be a factory, school district, or hospital, our clients have come to trust not only the work we do, but the people doing it.

Passing Down Family Values

It all started in 1979 when Brown found himself in Tecumseh, KS, working on the DuPont Cellophane Plant (now Futamura). Following completion of the project, Brown was faced with two choices: leave the state in search of work, or plant roots in Kansas. Brown elected to stay in the Sunflower State, and began working with DuPont directly, providing in-plant maintenance and other services. It didn’t take long for more contracts to roll in. Soon, Brown was providing services in process piping, fabrication, and plant maintenance around the state. In the time since PCI has grown from a small crew of 5 employees to nearly 100. We’ve expanded our service offerings to include: Installations, Industrial maintenance, Customized preventative maintenance, HVAC design and installation, Certified welding, Process piping, Valve and pump installation and repair, Energy audits, Plant shutdowns/turnarounds and much more.

Today, Brown’s son Steve runs PCI Mechanical and hasn’t forgotten the importance of putting people first. Our employees are the face of the company. We instill a number of values in them, such as work ethic, honoring commitments, and above all, taking pride in the quality of their work. We’re a family company that puts family first, and that’s allowed us to have a remarkably low turnover rate - a rarity in the construction field. Because of this, when we’re working in the field, our clients see a trusted face again and again.

Relationships with our clients are the most rewarding aspect of our work. We’re as transparent as possible, and share nearly all of our costs with the client. We’re not afraid to go the extra mile to ensure something’s done right, and it’s paid off. The future is bright for PCI. We’ve become known for taking the hardest jobs and providing the best results. As we continue to grow, we’ll continue to put people first, and will never forget that quality is number one.

Craftmanship. Quality. Accountability.
